Vision and Mission
Missions Statement: Working Towards A Culture Of Excellence
Significant incidents and event are taken place in Europe right now, not only the major terror attacks, but also the surge of immigrants and refugees coming to Europe for peace, safety and a better life. EMS systems are in the frontline and we expect that EMS’ are prepared for these major incidents. However, EMS is also in the first line as gatekeeper to a continuously growing public demand and increasing public expectations to the service delivered.
Now, more than ever – it is important that we have a European network and cooperation across Europe in identifying bet practice and finding new solutions in EMS.
The European EMS Leadership Network will:
- Create an overview of and establish cooperation between the EMS systems in Europe to explore each other’s strengths, limitations and future challenges.
- Describe a desired vision of the European emergency care system, and recommend strategies needed to reach our common and local goals.
- Improve patientcare and quality in EMS and to ensure to benchmark patient outcome.
Moreover the European EMS Leadership Network will work with the following issues:
- Emergency planning and resilience
- Improving how to respond to all patients – emergency and urgent care patients
- Providing the right care for the patients
- Training and leadership e.g. succession planning
- Best use of available resources
- Changing needs and demands
- Major incidents
- Plans in regard to mass casualties and burns
The goals for the European EMS Leadership Network:
- To develop a chain of emergency care
- Develop European standards for e.g. dispatch, best care and quality
Structure
The European EMS Leadership Network is founded by EMS Copenhagen, Berlin Fire Brigade, Norwegian Air Ambulance, South East Coast Ambulance Service, Scottish Ambulance Service and SAMU. Over the years the network will be expanded to including more European EMS Services. As the founding members new organizations will have to commit to the goals and share data and ideas.
The network will be dynamic and agile, responding to the changing needs and priorities of participating EMS organizations.
The European EMS Leadership Network will bring future EMS congresses forward and will support the implementation of the regional chapter of the Resuscitation Academy in Europe.
